  • I ordered this for my sister and then spent a week trying to talk myself out of keeping it. The books are properly bound, not little blocks with a printed spine.

    What is inside

    A carved miniature bookcase with a glass fronted door. Open it and the whole inside is a grid of twenty five numbered drawers, five across and five down.

    Each drawer holds one tiny hardback, wrapped and waiting. Open one a day from the first of December.

    The books

    They are proper little books, not blocks with a spine printed on the side. Real covers, real board, and real pages that turn.

    Each one is around six centimetres tall, so a single book sits in your palm and the whole set fits in one hand.

    Every book has a thin gold cord through the corner, so once it is opened it goes straight on the tree.

    By Christmas Day you have twenty five ornaments and a bookcase to keep them in until next December.

    Twenty five ornaments by Christmas Day

    Every book comes on a gold cord. Open one a day, hang it on the tree, and by the twenty fifth the tree is full of them.

    Then they go back in the bookcase until next December.

      A different cover behind every door

      Every drawer has its own book with its own cover design and none of them repeat. Alice in Wonderland came out of one of the top drawers. The little bows on the drawer fronts are a nicer touch than they look online.

      Will it arrive in time to start on 1 December?

      A calendar has to be with you by 1 December to be any use, so order by 1 November to be certain of opening door one on time. If you have a date in mind, email us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.
